Asset Deal Originator – Cargill – Genf, GE

Position Purpose & Summary

The aim of this role is to support the OT growth strategy reinforcing the origination of supply side deals in the Greek market.

The focus of the role will be to originate the following type of deals:


New constructions

Long Term Time Charters

Setting up “pools”

As this role is part of the Asset and Deal Structuring desk the role will also be responsible for Risk Analysis and modeling for the 2020 Fuel project. The role will also be responsible to refine and improve existing models. Lastly, the role will be responsible when needed to execute deals when needed in terms of back up or when volumes require more support.

Principal Accountabilities

75% Origination of Asset Deals on the Supply Side of the Ocean Transportation business

Work with external suppliers to originate bareboat deals

Originate new construction deals

Originate long term time charters

Find opportunities to set up pools with different ship owners

15% Risk Analysis and Modeling

Risk modeling of deal structures linked to the 2020 fuel project

Refine existing deal structure models

Provide guidance and coaching to other team members

10% Execution

Execution of deal

Back up for other Asset Analysts


Minimum Required Qualifications

Good quality undergraduate degree from recognized institution

Min 7 years commercial experience in the freight industry (commercial shipping active Supply or Demand side)

Min 5 years commercial experience working in Greece

Experience in developing strategic customer relationships & credibility in engaging customers at different levels

Strong experience in negotiation

Internal relationship development experience to align businesses.

Evidence of solution selling (identifying customer needs, issues and building solutions to match)

Experience and success in leading diverse teams to deliver solutions

Experience operating in an ambiguous environment and comfortable in setting direction for self and others

Strong analytical capability

Strong drive for results

Evidence of industry networking

Technical freight knowledge in one or more dry bulk categories

Knowledge of IMOS freight trading software

Sales and business development skills

Evidence of strong B2B marketing competence

Market analytics and drivers

Strong communication skills

Business fluency in English and Greek

Preferred Qualifications

MBA or similar post-graduate qualification

Commercial shipping studies

International Business studies

Experience on ocean freight chartering

Consulting experience with a name firm or internal experience at a blue chip company

Global experience where appropriate

Emerging markets experience

Experience in Supply chain and forwarding
